It can be very difficult to keep up with the most expensive celebrity engagement rings — just when you think someone has made the top of the list, another celebrity comes along with an even flashier and bigger ring. Still, there are a few that definitely hold their own when it comes to beauty, size and price. Here are 5 of the most expensive engagement rings to ever adorn a famous left ring finger.
When 2 of the biggest music acts in the world decide to get engaged, you can bet the engagement ring will make its own noise. Such is the case with Beyonce’s 24 carat emerald cut ring, which is still considered one of the highest valued diamonds in the world. It’s reported that Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z paid $4.7 million for the ring and that it is now valued at over $9 million.
Nick Cannon spent $2.5 million on a Jacob & Co. engagement ring for his soon-to-be pop-star wife Mariah. The ring features a 17-carat emerald cut pink center diamond and is surrounded by 58 pink diamonds. It also has two half-moon diamonds on each side. That’s quite a bit of pink! Though the marriage only lasted 6 years, the ring is sure to live on.
Let’s go back in time 10 years ago for our next famous and expensive engagement ring. It was 2005 and Paris Latsis was proposing to his girlfriend Paris Hilton. He gave her a 24-carat canary diamond ring that he purchased for $4.7 million. Paris must have liked it at least a little, because she did wear it for almost all of their short-lived 4-month engagement.
You can’t have a list of the “most expensive” anything these days without finding either Kanye West or Kim Kardashian. Of course their ring would be on this list! When Kanye proposed to Kim in the middle of the San Francisco Giants’ baseball park, he gave her a D flawless cushion cut diamond worth $7 million. Whether it was the ring or the extravagant proposal, Kim responded with a resounding “Yes!”
Still holding the record for one of the most expensive engagement rings of all time is the 33-carat Asscher cut Krupp Diamond given to Elizabeth Taylor from Richard Burton. It is said that Elizabeth wore this ring every day for the rest of her life.
While owning a ring like one of these may not necessarily be realistic for most, the rings and the stories behind them can be inspiring for couples as they choose their own engagement ring.
